So. Warhammer 40K SPACE MARINE 2 and ROGUE TRADER. On Steam Sale. Worth it?

Thinking about it, although I worry that I don’t have enough computer for either. I am also not at 100%, as my body is feeling cranky over something that I ate. So I don’t want to rush into anything, just for the dopamine rush from buying a shiny.

So. Worth it?

  1. I have not played either.

I believe the Rogue Trader game was developed by Owl Cat, who did two pathfinder games. I have both, but only played the first one, Kingmaker. It was much more enjoyable and better done than I expected a relatively small game company to do. The NPC interactions and stories were engaging, the main game play was fun, and fairly faithful to the original RPG mechanics. I found it worth my money, and more importantly, my time.

Not all products from any one company are the same quality, so YMMV. Still, I am likely to go pick this one up if it is on sale.

  2. WORTH IT. Space Marine 2 captures the essence of the tabletop game. It is bloody mayhem with a dash of religious zeal. Crushing Tyranids and smashing up Chaos Marines is a blast. The single-player campaign is bit on the short side for my tastes, but packs a lot of action. There’s also an excellent multiplayer co-op that is a lot of fun. Next month the developer is adding a “horde mode” that pits the Marines against endless waves of Tyranids that must be cleansed from the galaxy for the Glory of the Imperium.
